Celebrity Destination Wedding Hot Spot: New Orleans

European ambiance, horse-drawn carriages and romantic courtyards are what New Orleans is all about. Beyond those characteristics of the “most romantic city in America,” NOLA knows how to celebrate saying “I do.” If your invitation from one of the following celebrities got lost in the mail, follow these memorable celebrity wedding spots in the French Quarter for inspiration.

Marigny Opera House

Renowned for its charming architecture and rustic aesthetic, the Marigny Opera House is a beautiful wedding venue that’s easily customizable to meet your dream destination wedding needs. Natural light flows in from twin towers, large domes and magnificent arches. Beyoncé even said the Holy Trinity church-turned-music-venue dubbed “church of the arts,” had the best background for the “dopest wedding photo of all time.” Singer-songwriter and model Solange Knowles married music video director Alan Ferguson here.

Singer Michelle Branch and the Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney also chose this wedding venue. They stuck with a rustic vibe and exchanged vows on the first level which featured a red-and-black checkered floor, a wooden balcony and stained-glass windows. Boston Legal and New Girl actress Lake Bell married New York-based tattoo artist and artist Scott Campbell here as well.

Contemporary Arts Center

Find unlimited entertainment options at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in the heart of New Orleans, like tennis pro Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian did for their fairytale wedding. The CAC offers 30,000 square feet of event space that combines warehouse spaces, award-winning galleries and architecture and theaters. That much blank space is ideal for newlyweds seeking distinct décor and complete customization. The couple’s wedding theme was Beauty and the Beast and yours can be whatever you desire.

New Orleans Museum of Art

After seven years together, Glee and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story actor, Darren Criss tied the knot with director-producer and musician Mia Swier in the sculpture garden of the New Orleans Museum of Art. Criss told Vogue their goal was “to take traditions and turn them on their heads with our own flair.” Their wedding celebration was anything but traditional from the beginning; their four day wedding celebration began on Valentine’s Day. It makes sense that this musical match made in heaven said their vows in the oldest fine arts institution in New Orleans.

Where better to start your wedded bliss than in a city that celebrates love. New Orleans offers elegant hotels as well as romantic, lush courtyards and sumptuous park settings. Close the street and lead your very own second-line parade to the reception where you can choose to have one of the Crescent City’s many fabulous brass bands delight your guests and create cherished memories, or get married on riverboat with a reception to follow on deck to the tunes of a Dixieland jazz band. You’d be hard pressed to find a more enchanting spot for a wedding anywhere in the world.
